Effective Pain Management
We offer a range of approaches to manage pain, including massage, dry needling, the use of TENs machine, exercise and pain education. Our goal is to help you stay active and pain-free.

Manual Therapy Techniques
Our physiotherapists will utilise a combination of deep tissue massage, dry needling and the use of a portable TENs machine (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) which passes a small electrical current across your skin to stimulate the nerves and relieve pain. These techniques, amongst others, can help improve joint mobility, reduce muscle tension and address underlying tissue restriction.

Exercise Prescription
Exercise promotes the release of Endorphins: a natural pain killer produced by the body, helping to reduce the perception of pain and create a sense of well-being.Engaging in Exercise can activate the "gate control" theory of pain. The brain can only process a limited amount of sensory information at a time. Therefore, engaging in exercise can essentially "close the gate" on pain signals.

Holistic Approach
Even though injuries follow a predictable healing timeline, pain may not decrease at the same rate as tissue healing. The nervous system can become sensitised, keeping pain active even after physical recovery.
Fear, stress, and movement avoidance can prolong pain due to neuroplasticity (the brain adapting to maintain pain responses). Your brain and nerves can be trained to be less sensitive to pain through pain education and movement. Here at Stay Active Longer, we take a holistic approach to your wellbeing and understand that there are many factors that can contribute to pain symptoms.
